How Many Calories Are in Pho? Compare Full Bowls and Small Cups

Mara Solletti

Published pho bowl examples span about 300–800 calories. Compare chicken, beef and tofu servings, then account for noodles, sauces and leftovers.

Published full-bowl examples of pho with noodles and meat or tofu span about 300–800 calories—not a universal serving value. The restaurant examples below range from 287 to 764 calories. Roll’d’s smaller chicken and beef soup cups are closer to 200–235 calories. Your bowl may fall outside these examples if its portion or recipe differs. (Pho nutrition guide, Roll’d nutrition guide)

The most useful question for tracking is: does the number describe your whole bowl, a smaller cup, or just the broth?

Calories in chicken, beef and vegetarian pho

These are specific restaurant servings, not averages for all pho. The UK chain Pho gives calories per dish without a bowl weight; Australian chain Roll’d lists an average bowl serving of 808 g. Because Pho does not give weights, the difference between the chains cannot be attributed to bowl size alone.

Restaurant and pho Published serving Calories
Pho: thinly sliced steak One dish; weight not stated 287
Pho: chicken breast One dish; weight not stated 347
Pho: tofu and button mushrooms One dish; weight not stated 356
Pho: beef brisket One dish; weight not stated 397
Roll’d: poached chicken One bowl; average serving 808 g About 467
Roll’d: mixed beef and chicken One bowl; average serving 808 g About 553
Roll’d: mushroom and tofu One bowl; average serving 808 g About 717
Roll’d: sliced rare beef One bowl; average serving 808 g About 764

Sources: Pho’s guide, accurate as of January 31, 2026, and Roll’d’s guide, updated September 16, 2026. Roll’d’s per-serving energy figures are converted from kilojoules to calories by dividing by 4.184, then rounded.

This comparison also shows why “vegetarian pho is always lowest” is unreliable: Roll’d’s mushroom-and-tofu bowl has a higher published total than its chicken bowl. Recipe and portion matter alongside the topping name.

A small cup is not a full bowl

Roll’d lists its poached-chicken pho cup at an average serving of 354 g and 865 kJ—about 207 calories. Its 808 g chicken bowl is about 467 calories. Sliced-rare-beef pho is about 234 calories per cup, versus about 764 per bowl. (Roll’d nutrition guide)

A tracking-app entry of “one serving: 230 calories” could therefore describe a much smaller meal than the bowl in front of you. Check the stated weight and serving type before using it.

How to estimate the bowl you ate

  • Use the restaurant’s exact item and size first. Count added sauces separately if they are excluded from the listed total; Roll’d lists optional pho hoisin and sriracha separately.
  • For homemade pho, add the components: noodles + meat or tofu + broth + garnishes and sauces. Use package labels or entries matching the ingredient and preparation.
  • Match cooked weight to cooked nutrition. One cooked rice-noodle database entry provides 108 calories per 100 g. Using that entry, 200 g contributes about 216 calories and 300 g about 324—before broth or toppings. These are calculated examples, not standard pho noodle portions.
  • Adjust for what remains. Eating half the noodles and meat is different from eating all the solids but leaving half the broth. Don’t automatically halve the whole-bowl calorie total because the bowl is still half full.

If the restaurant provides no nutrition information, choose an entry with the closest noodle quantity, toppings and serving size, and record it as an estimate rather than an exact count.
